A short overview of Mahila Umang Samiti, a network of hill women artisans from Kumaon, India. Set up as a collective in 2001, Umang is now a producer-owned company selling fruit preserves, pickles, woollen and other artisan products both in the Himalayan region and across India. The work of Umang has helped provide livelihoods and a sense of personal and economic empowerment to thousands of Kumaoni women.
