Do you have your own website, blog, forum or social network?
http://theblueyonder.com
what is your website/blog/forum/social network for?
The Blue Yonder promotes Responsible Travel in India. Set up about 5 years back to help promote and raise awareness about a unique river valley civilisation that was under threat ( Bharathpuzha - river nila), TBY learnt a lot of lessons on sustainability. From preserving art forms, culture, heritage and on livelihood, there was a world of knowledge that we came across. Based on this experience we are working through various partners in different states of India including Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Orissa and West Bengal.

Based on this experience, to share and spread Responsible Tourism we set up the International Centre for Responsible Tourism in Inda. (http://icrtindia.org) .

Sharing means everything to us at The Blue Yonder. So we are involved in running a facebook group http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=73518857387 called Responsible Tourism Networking. This is a platform to share, learn and inspire from those who have been fantastic work in Responsible Tourism.

The recent initiative we have undertaken was to launch a fund-raising initiative on facebook to support those who have been affected by the Cyclone Aila 2009. Check out more details here http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=85465385255
Is there is another relevant website connected to your work you'd like featured please list it here
http://traveltocare.com
What's this website for?
In 2009 Jan, I started consulting for another Responsible Tourism initiative http://traveltocare.com which brings together 100s of Responsible Tourism products online. This site gives an opportunity for travellers across the world to book online directly with the sellers and ensuring that the money stays in local economy and not in originating markets.

In collaboration with The Blue Yonder, Traveltocare.com and ICRT India, we are launching a workshop in Aug-Sept 2009 in India to bring together practitioners in Sustainable tourism. Idea is to share experiences of those who have already implemented innovative solutions in their properties, ranging from solid waste management, water recycling, harvesting, energy management etc.

Hi Gopi, I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with Ning rather than crowdvine as the platform. it ofers me everything I want the site to do, which crowdvine doesn't. And I really like the way i can manipulate the content / structure etc. I can see this being a lot easier to drive over the following few early months. However if you have any suggestions, or disagree and prefer crowdvine, let me know.

Currently my intention is to devote most of next week to getting this up and running. WHat i am looking for is any stories you and anyone else know that are about the sort of real world solutions this site will feature. Even if you just know a name, or a website, that's eough to get me rolling, and then i will blog about each of those over the course of next week, so that site begins to get some content. Meanwhile if you have any questions you think should be thrown open to a forum, or groups you'd like to set up, please do. My aim is to populate the site with some starter content next week, and have about 20 people join. And then at the end of next week invite more widely. All thoughts much appreciated.

You're quick. My gut feeling is that this site offers much more, but maybe too much, that it turns it into feeling like just another social network, which while it offers more by way of forums and so, maybe clutters the page with stuff that will be off puttting.
