Can we use tourism to combat climate change?

Briefly summarizing and combining few talks that I had in recent time, due to Aila Cyclone in Sunderbans, I wondered how tourism could contribute to direct combat against climate change in an affected destination.

There will surely be options utilizing philantrophic travel and voluntourism (mangrove tree replantation...). Using offsetting mechanisms travel industry could finance projects (...) Emergency action plans and crisis communication can be crucial - what can the travel industry / media do to support that. .....
