Inequality within and between countries is reaching new highs. Runaway climate change is a very real possibility. Tackling these challenges must be urgent priorities, but the scale of the problems we face raise questions about whether tackling both is achievable: on a global scale. Is it possible for poor countries to reach average EU living standards and for atmospheric concentrations of greenhouse gases to remain within a 400-450ppm scenario? Within a UK context, how do we make the investments that are needed to reduce inequalities and yet also fund the transition to a low carbon economy? Where are there synergies, but where are these goals also in conflict? Our panel of experts will discuss these questions, which are all the more urgent in the context of an economic situation that has tightened public finances.
Tickets for this event are FREE, but places are limited. To reserve your seat please email eva.neitzert@neweconomics.org.
